The target players for the TB-5 FORGED are "expert" and "veteran" amateur golfers with long golf careers who are particular about their game and clubs. ■Evolution of feel = evolution of Theater Blade
In order to create a soft feel when hitting with a single-material, soft iron forged iron, the development theme was to increase the thickness of the impact area. A major advantage of the Theater Blade structure is that it allows the thickness to be freely adjusted to the desired location without changing the function (center of gravity performance). The theater (curved) area from the toe to the heel was made smaller, and the thickness was used to increase the volume of the curved area in the sole, which is closer to the impact point. Another important aspect, especially for the "TB-5 FORGED," was a design that responds to the aesthetic sensibilities of veteran players. The design theme for the development was to create a "feel of iron" and "thickness" that is closer to a muscle back.
The grooves on both sides of the toe and heel, which form the boundary between the theater blade and the curved sole, are intended to capture excess weight for aesthetic purposes, but they are also difficult to design using the forging method. When improving the Theatre Blade, the thickness of the top blade and the appearance of the neck were adjusted, resulting in a head shape that is easier for experienced players to set up. While the head size remains the same, it has evolved into a semi-gooseneck shape that provides a moderately sharp feel while also providing a more conscious straight shot.
