Adidas is a sports brand originating in Germany. It was founded in 1924 by the Dassler brothers as a shoe manufacturer. The elder brother, Adolf, was an athlete, and so he began developing specialized sports shoes, believing that each athlete needed shoes suited to their sport. In 1984, the brothers went independent, with the younger brother, Adolf, founding Adidas. Since all West German athletes wore Adidas shoes at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, the brand has gained overwhelming support and popularity at the Olympics. Later, the company has released many other classics, including the basketball shoe "Superstar" and the tennis shoe "Stan Smith." It is now the world's leading sports goods manufacturer.
