■New mantle material for increased ball speed
The first priority in the renewal of the Chrome Tour series was to further improve ball speed. To achieve speed without changing the feel of the previous ball, the mantle material was completely redesigned after a four-year development period. The new mantle (the second layer from the core) is called the New Dual Tour Fast Mantle. With a modulus of elasticity approximately 16% higher than the previous model, this new material acts like a spring, achieving ball speeds that exceed those of the previous model.
■Newly improved seamless tour aero with a circle added to the hexagon
The previous model featured a new aerodynamic pattern called Seamless Tour Aero, which blended multiple circles into a multitude of hexagons, resulting in rave reviews for its wind-resistant performance. The new Chrome Tour X ball further maximizes the benefits of Seamless Tour Aero through enhanced manufacturing precision. While the previous model featured slight variations in the height of the hexagons and circles, further investments in molding, coating, and inspection have enabled a consistent design across the entire ball, both within and across different balls. The result: minimal variation in distance from the second shot onward, resulting in consistent distance perception.
■ Reduces spin on long shots for increased distance
The previous Chrome Tour X ball was a popular choice among tour professionals, but some complained that it generated a little too much spin on long shots. The new Chrome Tour X ball addresses this need by incorporating a new material in the mantle (the second layer from the core) and making the cover even thinner, successfully reducing spin on long shots, including Driver shots. Meanwhile, spin on iron shots and greenside shots remains at the same high level as before.
