The QUANTUM iron series was developed with a focus on addressing the impact point errors commonly seen among average golfers. While AI continues to design each model and club individually, the series introduces a new 360° undercut design. The entire head features a J-shaped cross section, and the face welds are positioned further back, allowing the face to flex more easily than ever before, even on hits from the bottom to the toe—a common mistake—resulting in a higher launch angle. This increases the chances of landing the ball on the green. Additionally, urethane microspheres provide a high-quality impact sound and feel. The new tri-sole design reduces burr penetration and improves release, regardless of impact. AI-based face design continues, further strengthening the control point and significantly improving trajectory correction.
■The entire perimeter has a cross section resembling the letter J. The biggest evolution in the QUANTUM iron series is the 360° undercut design. The entire perimeter of the head has a cross section that is bent like the letter J. Additionally, by positioning the face welds further back from the face, the club head is more likely to flex over a wider area from the bottom to the toe than with conventional face-cup designs, resulting in a higher launch angle and improved ball speed. Even with mishits on the lower part of the face, which are common among average golfers, the ball still rises, providing ample distance and generating the right amount of spin, increasing the chances of landing the ball on the green.
■ Urethane microspheres for a comfortable feel. The lower back of the face features urethane microspheres for a comfortable feel and a body weight for optimal weight distribution, but what's noteworthy is how they're installed. The QUANTUM iron series uses a 360° undercut design, with the urethane microspheres sandwiched in an L-shape between the undercut at the bottom of the face and the weight. This minimizes the area of direct contact between the weight and the bottom of the face, allowing for the full deflection effect of the undercut.
■AI design continues to be introduced. The face incorporates Callaway's AI design (designed specifically for each model and club) that has been cultivated over many years. AI design is based on input of many golfers' real swing and trajectory data. Because the face is more prone to deflection at impact, the AI-designed control points have been further strengthened, providing greater trajectory correction than ever before. While optimizing launch angle and spin rate for each impact point, it achieves consistent ball speed. It delivers the ball to a narrower, farther landing area.
■The sole chamfer is optimized with consideration for the impact point. Recent Callaway irons have been highly praised for their chamfered soles, but the shape has been slightly changed in the QUANTUM iron series. While the leading edge of previous irons was comb-shaped, the QUANTUM irons have a thin chamfer of the same width from toe to heel. This style was adopted to ensure good release even if the impact point varies slightly. Meanwhile, the trailing edge remains the same as before, and is also chamfered from toe to heel.
