A versatile sole that supports forgiveness and allows for technique. Fourteen's signature sole technology brings ease of use to amateur golfers' wedge work, and has been adopted in wedges since the "DJ-5" (2021). The leading edge bumper, the key to forgiveness, provides tolerance for ball impact conditions. Furthermore, it creates a moderate bounce effect in the center of the sole, providing exceptional release in wedge work, making this a truly versatile standard sole. ■The gooseneck shape is meticulously designed for ease of setup. The FR-5 features a moderate gooseneck shape, making it easy to pick up and grip the ball, a key element of its "forgiveness." Because the gooseneck shape emphasizes automaticity, it can feel like a nuisance to players accustomed to straight necks. However, the curve of the neck shape was carefully designed to maintain the functional forgiveness of a gooseneck while also providing the ease of a straight neck. By adopting a neck shape with an extremely gentle curve from the top to the bottom, the gooseneck feel is not too noticeable. ■ FR PROJECT's evolution: High-spin mirror forged face. The face's flatness and groove edges, both of which are within the legal limits, are key elements for delivering consistent spin shots, and this high-spin mirror forged face is achieved with consistent manufacturing precision even in mass-produced products. Horizontal laser milling, guided by the FR PROJECT, improves basic spin performance, enabling more consistent spin shots from any lie, even in wet conditions. ■The TS-101w is a mid-weight shaft that aims for "just right."
